2019 5K

BI-CONTINENTAL CROSS COUNTRY 5K RUN/WALK

The 15th annual bi-continental 5k run took place on June 2nd in both Meru, Kenya and Port Jefferson Station. The simultaneous event raises funds and awareness for the Jerusha Mwiraria hope children’s fund home in Meru, Kenya. We currently support 89 orphans and vulnerable children. The race winners receive the matt blend trophies named in honor of a high school cross country runner from Shoreham Wading River High who passed from leukemia. In Kenya a large number of children from the home participated in the run. Next year we hope to grow the race for the 16th annual bi-continental run.

The winners were:
– U.S. men Rob Badalian: Shoreham Chiropractic and Rocky Point Rotary
– U.S. women Jamie Stewart
– Kenya men Kennedy Mwendwa
– Kenyan women Sheila Gatwiri

Times not released since the Kenyan course could not be certified by US Track and Field Federation. A special thank you to all the runners, walkers and volunteers on both sides “of the pond”.
