Holiday Greetings from HCF

Dear Supporter of Hope Children’s Fund,

Greetings from the Board of Directors of Hope Children’s Fund. 2022 has been a very interesting year at the Jerusha Mwiraria Hope Children’s Fund Home.

Covid took its toll on the Kenyan people as it did on all people and, as a result, we welcomed eleven newly orphaned children. Due to runaway Kenyan inflation and the soaring costs of staples, it has been enormously difficult but there simply was no other option. It is our mission and we now care for 90 children. Despite all the challenges we continue to provide high quality educational opportunities to all the children.

We are very pleased with our young adults who we have been able to support through their higher education. Many are making productive lives for themselves:

  • Jane Mwendwa is a very successful pharmacist.
  • Kelvin Koome is a physician’s assistant.
  • Doreen Gatwiri is a medical doctor.
  • Risper Mwendwa owns two successful businesses.
  • Edith Kanana will soon become a barrister (lawyer).

The loss of our Co-President Larry Hohler in May was a great one. The Board stepped up with Laura Spillane assuming the Vice-President role. Larry’s legacy will live on in the success of the home. The entire board continues to be dedicated to raising funds and awareness of Hope Children’s Fund.

Our new bus will celebrate its 1st birthday on December 24th. The bus was purchased from donor donations, like yours, of all different amounts demonstrating that every donation matters. We remain a grass roots, all-volunteer charity.

Hope Children’s Fund exists only due to your generosity. Help us continue our tradition of caring for some of the world’s most vulnerable children. Thanking you in advance for your generosity and kindness.

In service,
The H.C.F. Board of Directors
